Original music and sound
Library music is cheap because it was written for nobody. It sits under the edit rather than with it, you share it with whoever else licensed that month, and every few years a rights claim arrives on a video you posted in good faith. Original music costs more once and then stops costing anything.
What it involves
How the work is actually done
Scored to picture
Written against your actual timeline, so the swell lands on the cut and the drop lands on the logo. That is the difference an audience feels without being able to explain, and it is not something a library track can do except by accident.
Written to a brief you can give in plain words
You do not need musical vocabulary. "Confident but not corporate", "the middle section should feel like the problem", a reference track you like — all of these are workable briefs. Two revision rounds are standard, and demos come early enough to change direction cheaply.
Stems and variants, not one flat file
Every commission is delivered as the full mix plus stems, and with the cut-down lengths a campaign needs — 60, 30, 15 and 6 seconds, plus a loop and a sting. Editing to a shorter slot later then costs an email rather than a re-score.
Cleared, in writing
You get a perpetual, worldwide, exclusive commercial licence, signed. No performing-rights registration you have to keep paying into, no content-ID claim on your own advert, no library subscription that quietly stops covering last year's videos when you cancel it.
